Where the Airflow underlay stops moisture
At home & in the box spring bed
On a closed slatted frame or box spring base, moisture builds up especially easily. The Airflow underlay between the base mattress and topper keeps the air moving – against a musty smell in the mattress and mould in the box spring bed. With 20 mm build height you also get a noticeably cushioning effect.
Motorhome & Camping
When the mattress is built directly onto a table top or the bed box, trapped moisture quickly collects there. Instead of standing it up and airing it daily, the cuttable camping underlay actively prevents condensation. Roof tent
In the roof tent, a 3D-mesh underlay is recommended by leading camping experts. Tip: For a hard-shell roof tent the thin 10mm version works best – with 20 mm the tent sometimes no longer closes because of the limited space.
Boat
In the berth, the mattress usually lies on a closed wooden or laminate floor, under which condensation builds up. The Airflow BALANCE 15mm keeps it dry and prevents mildew stains. Handy: berths are rarely rectangular – the underlay can simply be cut with scissors for angled corners and curves. If stains already appear, our guide helps you remove mould from the mattress.

Can the Airflow mattress underlays be cut to size by hand?
YES - All mattress underlays from Matnext, including the Airflow 10mm, Airflow BALANCE 15mm, Airflow PLUS 20mm and Airflow ECO 15mm, can be cut to size easily with a good household or tailor’s scissors. Curves and corner cut-outs are also possible.

Are the Airflow mattress underlays non-slip?
For our Airflow 10mm, Airflow BALANCE 15mm, Airflow PLUS 20mm we offer anti-slip clips.
Our Airflow ECO 15mm is non-slip even without clips thanks to the material – the natural latex provides the grip needed.
Does the mattress underlay lose stability after being cut?
NO – Thanks to their honeycomb structure, the mattress underlays keep their stability even after cutting.
TIP: Cut the material at a spot that is easy to clean afterwards. Loose threads can be removed by shaking vigorously and simply vacuumed up.
Can all versions of the mattress underlays be folded or rolled?
YES - we deliver our mattress underlays in handy boxes. They can be folded or rolled without any problem and stored to save space.
Is there a risk that the material compresses under load?
NO – The underlays are extremely hard-wearing and withstand even high loads. Thanks to the special construction, the material returns to its original shape even under localised pressure.
Which version is right for me?
All versions provide sufficient under-ventilation.

- Airflow PLUS 20mm: Ideal for larger areas and anyone wanting extra comfort. Our 20mm version has an added cushioning effect and is perfect for anyone with enough room for 20 mm of extra build height.

Can the Airflow mattress underlay also be used on the floor or on a plywood base?
YES – Our mattress underlays are specially developed for use on solid surfaces such as floors, plywood or motorhome beds. To prevent slipping, we recommend using our anti-slip clips.
Is the mattress underlay also suitable for use in a roof tent?
YES – especially in the roof tent, a 3D-mesh mattress underlay is recommended by all leading camping professionals.
TIP: In our experience, the slightly thinner 10mm mattress underlay is better suited for use in a hard-shell roof tent. Because of the limited space, the 20mm version can prevent the roof tent from closing. We therefore recommend choosing the Matnext Airflow mattress underlay in 10 mm thickness in the roof tent.
