Here are some common questions about Matnext Airflow.
Can the Airflow mattress underlays be cut by hand?
YES, curves or corner cuts can easily be done by yourself with a good pair of household or tailor's scissors.
Does the material lose stability after cutting?
NO. If you cut your mattress underlay to size, there is no need to sew the edges afterwards. The honeycomb structure retains its stability after cutting, even without sewing.
TIP: Cut the material in a place that you can sweep or vacuum afterwards, as cutting will loosen threads at the cut edge. Vigorously shake out or vacuum the mattress underlay afterwards. There is no danger of the material disintegrating.
Can all versions of the mattress underlay be folded or rolled?
YES. We deliver the spacer fabric in handy cartons. You can fold and store the material just as easily.
Are Matnext Airflow mattress underlays washable?
YES, it is a stain-resistant polyester mesh that can be washed in the washing machine at up to 40 degrees. Light stains can also be easily removed in the bathtub or shower with the shower head.
Due to its structure, the material hardly absorbs odors or moisture. For the same reason, it dries very quickly after washing, as liquids simply flow through it.
Is there a risk that the material will compress under load?
NO, spacer fabric is very resistant and can withstand loads of several hundred kilos due to the weight distribution over the entire surface. The many upright polyester threads make it possible for the material to return to its original shape even under point loads.
Which version is right for me: 10mm, BALANCE 15mm, PLUS 20mm or ECO 15mm?
All versions ventilate the mattress from below and help prevent condensation, trapped moisture and mold growth under your cushions. For small areas that do not need extra comfort, we recommend our lighter and cheaper 10mm version. BALANCE 15mm is the all-rounder with an anthracite look: black outer layers, white spacer threads. For noticeable comfort, softer lying and wide areas, we recommend the 20mm "PLUS" version. ECO 15mm is made from coconut fibre and natural latex and is non-slip without clips.
Can the Airflow mattress underlay also be used on the floor, or on a plywood base?
YES, the original purpose of our 3D Mesh pad is to ventilate those mattresses that do not lie on a classic slatted frame. This is especially often the case in caravans, motorhomes, boats or even at home on the floor. In all these cases, the Matnext Airflow 3D pad helps to create a dry sleeping climate.
Is the material also suitable for use in a roof tent?
YES, 3D spacer fabric is well suited to the roof tent, where the mattress lies on a solid floor.
TIP: Experience has shown that the slightly thinner 10mm pad is more suitable for use in a roof tent with a hard shell. Due to limited space, the 20mm version may not allow the roof tent to close. In this case, we therefore recommend choosing the Matnext Airflow in 10mm thickness.
